Persicaria tinctoria, Japanese Indigo, native to Eastern Europe and Asia, is a fast-growing annual plant that has been used for thousands of years to create shades of blue.
These seeds are from plants grown in my Cape Cod garden. Similar to growing basil, this variety does well in New England (zone 7), and will yield multiple harvests throughout the season. Create pigment, indigo vats, or use fresh leaves for instant color.
